Getting the job
A big factor in determining whether you'll get a job is how you present yourself to potential employers on paper (your CV) and in person (your interview).
preparing the perfect cv
- The ideal CV will be approximately 5 pages long
- Do not use fancy fonts - the best font is one that is easy to read
- Make sure that all the details are correct
- You must ask somebody's permission before you can put their name and contact details as a reference
- Update your CV regularly to ensure that it is current
- Do not include documents (ID, certificates, photographs, etc) unless you are specifically asked to do so

do's and don'ts of successful interviews
- Make sure you know the correct date, time and venue of the interview well in advance
- Do not be late! If you are running late, kindly phone the interviewer and inform them
- Be presentable and professional in your behaviour and appearance - no sunglasses, piercings, chewing gum, etc. Always be friendly and polite
- Dress smartly and wear an appropriate hairstyle
- Do not drink alcohol prior to your interview - "Dutch Courage" does not make a good impression to potential employers
- Bring all the necessary documentation to the interview, including a copy of your up-to-date CV
- Cell phones must be turned off. If you are expecting an urgent emergency call, inform the interviewer in advance
- Answer all questions directly and truthfully. Our consultants do their research, and any dishonestly or non-disclosure will reflect poorly on you
- Do not talk about personal issues unless specifically asked in the interview
- Do not "bad mouth" previous employers
- Give yourself plenty of time for an interview. That way you will be more relaxed and less hurried
- If you are unsure of anything, or require more detail - ask
- Be yourself
- End the interview on a positive note
- Most importantly: Enjoy it.
